Today, March 13, 2019 is National K9 Veterans Day. According to National Day Calendar, “National K9 Veterans Day is celebrated on March 13th on the official birthday of the US Army K9 Corps, which was formed in 1942.  Joseph White, a retired military working dog trainer, originated the idea for the day.”

Every day, around the globe, veteran Military Working Dogs perform a variety of roles to keep others safe and to help execute a variety of missions. Some of these military working dogs are honored throughout their career with retirements and awards, but today is a great day to recognize the service of all military working dogs.  One way to recognize military working dogs today is to use the #NationalK9VeteransDay hashtag.
